SHIN LEADS BY 5 HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND

South Korea’s Jenny Shin powered her way through Dundonald Links to retain the lead after round two at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.

Shin’s second round 67 saw her blemish free but for an opening bogey. Six birdies have taken her to -11, five clear of second placed Esther Henseleit on 6 under.

Speaking on her day two performance, the South Korean golf star claimed: “I think it was actually a little bit easier than yesterday. A few holes on the back nine, there was no wind but I didn’t take advantage of those holes. But yeah, just kind of followed my way around, made the birdies when I could and tried really hard not to make any 3-putts.”

Like Shin, Germany’s Henseleit seems to be enjoying every minute on the Dundonald Links, adding a 68 to her opening round of 70.

“It is nice to actually see this golf course play as a links course”, the 27-year-old said.

“I feel like the last few years, it was always super soft, and it was just like target golf with a lot of wind, and now you actually have to think about your shots, have to think about the bounces, and yeah, I always enjoy doing it. I don’t want to do it every week of the year but two weeks of the year, it’s definitely fun.”

Joining Shin and Henseleit in the cut is golfer Hannah Darling whose five birdies on day two ensured Scotland have representation on home soil this weekend. The 23-year-old is assured of winning the 2026 Jock McVicar Award as the only Scot to have made the cut.

With conditions set to be their trickiest yet, tomorrow’s action is not to be missed. Shin and Henseleit’s Tee Time is set for 12:35 but there is plenty of drama set to unfold before.

Darling will tee off at 8:15, going out with Germany’s Olivia Cowan while World No.1 Nelly Korda joins compatriot Lindy Duncan with a Tee time of 08:55.
