YOUR 2025 CHAMPION, LOTTIE WOAD

July 27, 2025
England’s Lottie Woad won the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open by 3 shots following a brilliant 68 in tough conditions in her first professional start.
Pressure was put on throughout the day, with Hyo Joo Kim at one point joining Lottie on top after 14 holes. World Number 1 Nelly Korda also threatened after four consecutive birdies saw her just 3 behind but her attack didn’t quite follow through with some uncharacteristic mistakes.
Woad though in her first pro start, was almost faultless from start to finish. Following a slightly errant tee-shot on one. She found a good lie and made a good par. Back to Back birdies followed to keep the chasing pack at bay.
Two more birdies on 13 and 14 ensured she stayed on top with Korean Kim in hot pursuit but a bogey on 15 for Kim saw her challenge fade. Woad did make a bogey on 16, only her third of the week but finished the job in style with one of her trademark wedges into 18 to set up a grandstand finish and a birdie on the 72nd hole to win by 3.
Woad on winning in her first professional start…
“Yeah, I think it’s quite hard to do that, but very special to win in my first event. You know, everyone was chasing me today, and managed to maintain the lead and played really nicely down the stretch and hit a lot of good shots, which is nice.”
Woad on her two wedges into 18…
“My wedges have always been a strength, and my approaches in general, I can usually rely on it and control the spin pretty nicely.”
On a wet and windy Sunday at Dundonald Links, it proved to be the trickiest of the three days for weather conditions. However there was some low scoring across the board. Defending champions Lauren Coughlin shot a find round 67 to finish in a tie for tenth. Spaniard Julia Lopez Ramirez, shot the round of the day 65 for solo third place and grab one of the three open spots for next week. She will be joined by Paula Reto (7th) and Mary Liu (15th).
Round Four - Best Bits
Scotland’s leading player Gemma Dryburgh took home the Jock McVicar Leading Scot award after her impressive second round 67 helped her to make the weekend. Nick Roger presented the award.
